Mit STWST84x11 FOG MANIFESTO thematisiert die STWST Nebel als Material, Medium und Netzwerk. Die Stadtwerkstatt zeigt in ihrer Showcase-Extravaganza desorientierte Arbeiten und vernebelte Kontinuitäten zwischen Theorie und künstlerischer Praxis.
Mit MANIFEST, AUSSTELLUNG und NEBELKEGELN wird das Haus zum FOG CUBE. Die Stadtwerkstatt lädt ein zum FOGGING AROUND – und zu einem Spektakel der reduzierten Weitsicht, des halluzinierenden Bewusstseins, der verschleierten Sichtbarkeit und der verdichteten Unüberprüfbarkeit.
Das Haus fokussiert damit auf seine Core-Themen: Kunst nach den Neuen Medien, neue Kontexte, kritische Produktion, Erhöhung des Widerspruchs. Es geht um Grundfesten, Kontinuitäten und um eine tief unten strömende Imagination als Material.
Auch 2025 bedeutet STWST84x11 genre-freie Kunst und kritische Produktion im Anti-White-Cube des Hauses. Die STWST zeigt mit ihren Verbündeten und Kompliz:innen Ausstellungsstücke, Installationen, Performances, bringt Diskurs, Theorie und Transformation und mixt alles mit zwei Nächten NIGHTLINE.

ÜBER STWST84
STWST84x11 ist eine Showcase-Extravaganza der Stadtwerkstatt im September - abgehalten in Kooperation mit der Ars Electronica. STWST84 bezieht sich auf das vorangegangene Format STWST48, wird allerdings heuer mit seiner 11. Ausgabe umbenannt und erweitert, indem die Dauer verlängert wird und der Referenzzeitpunkt von Medienkunstprojekten der Stadtwerkstatt auf das Jahr 84 bezogen wird. Bei allen Medienkunstformaten der STWST werden internationale Artists und kritische Produzent:innen eingeladen. Außerdem werden neue Kunstkontexte gezeigt, die in und um die STWST entwickelt wurden.

ÜBER STWST48 → STWST84
STWST48 wurde 2025 in STWST84 umbenannt! Mit der variierten Benennung wird die Dauer von 48 Stunden gecancelt, das Format wird auf sieben Tage verlängert und es wird mit der neuen Benennung STWST84 ein erweiterter Referenzzeitpunkt der Stadtwerkstatt-Medienkunstprojekte seit 1984 gekennzeichnet. 1984 fand das erste Medienkunstprojekt der Stadtwerkstatt statt, auch damals schon als Beteiligungsprojekt bei der Ars Electronica. Zudem ist das Jahr 1984 auch kulturell referenzreich.

With STWST84x11 FOG MANIFESTO, STWST explores fog as a material, medium, and network. In its showcase extravaganza, Stadtwerkstatt presents disorienting works and foggy continuities between theory and artistic practice.
With MANIFESTO, EXHIBITION, and FOG BOWLING, the building becomes a FOG CUBE. The Stadtwerkstatt invites you to FOGGING AROUND - and to a spectacle of reduced foresight, hallucinatory consciousness, veiled visibility, and unverifiability.
The house thus focuses on its core themes and intentions: Art after new media, new contexts, critical production, increasing contradictions. It is about foundations, continuities, and a deeply flowing imagination as material.
Also in 2025, STWST84x11 will stand for genre-free art and critical production in the institution's anti-white cube. Together with its allies and accomplices, STWST presents exhibition pieces, installations, performances, discourse, theory and transformation, mixing it all up with two nights of Nightline.

ABOUT STWST84
STWST84x11 is a showcase extravaganza organized by Stadtwerkstatt in September in cooperation with Ars Electronica. STWST84 is based on the previous STWST48 format, but this year, with its 11th edition, it has been renamed and expanded by extending its duration and referring to the starting point of media art projects at the Stadtwerkstatt to the year 84. STWST48 was renamed STWST84 in 2025!
